The System by Dan and Dave Buck

This DVD teaches some good fourishes. However, there is NO teaching on the main portion of the DVD. You basically get two angles and two speeds and thats how you’re supposed to learn the flourishes. Its not necessarily horrible, but it takes some getting used to. It loops automatically so theres no need to keep hitting rewind which is good. The menus can get uber annoying though. It takes forever to get from one part to another.

Notice above i said theres no teaching in the MAIN portion in the dvd. There is a bonus feature called pasteboard anime which is really cool. Its basicaly dan and dave buck when they were about 16 or so. They teach in that portion of the DVD. I would get this DVD if your seriously in to fancy cuts and flourishes.

The Effect:
The DVD is broken up into three categories, (ARCHIVE, TV SPOTS, and EXTRAS) selecting one activates the gears to a “system” that will own you for hours:

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
Over 18 insane card flourishes; Genesis, Kryptonite, West Coast Chaos, Madonna 1-3, False Sybil, Mary Jane, Ferrari 360 Spider, The Werm, TCTCSA, 00.327.0000, 00.327.0002, Revolution Erdnase, Molecule 1-3.

As a bonus you will also see and/or learn; The Leno Cut, Jackson Five, Railslide, Deck Flip, Revolution Cut, Sybil Variations

BONUS TRICK:
GENESIS- This is a very quick flourish and is probably one of the easiest on the disc. This is on the Archive and is also taught verbally by Dave Buck on the Pasteboard Animations video in the Extras. It is called Genesis because it was the first cut they Buck Twins created. Credit is given to Chris Kenner. Difficulty- 4/10

Kryptonite- A very flashy one handed false cut. As well as being taught in the Archive it is also taught on “Pasteboard animations” by Dave Buck verbally. It will take a long time to get to speed. Difficulty- 6.5/10

Madonna- Again, this flourish is also taught on “Pasteboard Animations” by Dan Buck. Looks very nice, but I can’t seem to get the beginning down where you split the middle packet with the thumb and goes under the packet in your left (tips anyone?). Looks very nice as well. Difficulty- 7.5/10
West Coast Chaos- Another easy cut also taught on “Pasteboard Animations”. Beginners may find the first split with the packet in the right hand a bit knacky at first, but it’s easy to soon pick up. Difficulty- 5/10

FALSE SYBIL- A way of using the sybil cut to create a false cut. Should be very easy for those of you who are very familiar with sybil. The only hard part is the revolution cut during the cut. Will take a while to get at full speed. Difficulty- 7/10

LENO- This is a seven packet display off of your chin. This in ONLY taught on the “Pasteboard Animations” video, verbally by Dave Buck. This isn’t the same as the eight packet leno taught on the Trilogy. Not too hard either. Difficulty- 6/10

The WERM- In my opinion, the easiest flourish on the disc. A nice looking five packet display. Difficulty- 3/10
Ferrari 360 Spider- A very quick flourish. The end part of this flourish is used in Mary Jane and 00.327.0002. Difficulty- 4.5/10

Mary Jane- Very cool flourish which sees you flip a packet 360 degrees onto your left hand packet from a one handed fan. This is a very eye catching flourish which will get you noticed. Difficulty- 7/10
Madonna 2 and 3- M2 is probably the easiest out of the Madonna series of flourishes. If you can do the first phase of Jackson Five, Madonna 3 will be no problem to you at all. They both end the same way as Madonna 1, where you close by putting all your packets into a revolution cut. Difficulty- 6 and 7/10

TCTCSA- Haven’t really had a proper go at this cut, but from what I’ve tried Pandora is basically a variation on this. It may be quite difficult for some people to keep the packet pivoted against the base of the thumb whilst performing the revolution in the left hand. Difficulty- 7.5/10
00.327.0000 and 00.327.0002- The first of these two cuts is probably may favorite on the entire System. These two kind of both look very similar, although 00.327.0002 is a quicker and shorter cut. Again, like TCTCSA, I haven’t really had a real proper go at these two, mainly because I’m trying to perfect a few of the others on this disc before moving onto these two. Difficulty- 8.5 and 7/10

Revolution Erdnase- Basically the Erdnase one handed shift taught in Expert at the Card Table, but with a revolution in it. I’m trying to perfect the One Handed shift in Expert at the card table and possibly Erdnase go round taught in the Trilogy before I try to practice this flourish. There is also a way to make it false, which you’ll be able to pick up. The grip may feel very unnatural to some people, but Expert at the Card Table will help you with that. Difficulty- 7/10

The Molecule 1, 2 and 3- Three very easy cuts. M1 is also taught verbally on “Pasteboard Animations” as well. You will need to be able to do the TG Murphy deck flip to make learning M2 very easy for you. M3 is the end part of Pandora taught on the Trilogy. Difficulty- 3,4,4.5/10.
